01Hosting depends on what made the site
| Made with | Hosting | Moving it elsewhere |
|---|---|---|
| AI website builder (Orlume, Framer AI, Wix) | Built in, one-click publish | Depends on code export |
| App builders (Lovable, Bolt.new) | Built in, or deploy to Netlify/Vercel | Usually via GitHub sync |
| v0 | Deploys to Vercel | Code is standard Next.js |
| ChatGPT, Claude, Gemini | None; you host the files | Already portable |
| Cursor, Claude Code | None; your own project | Already portable |
02Hosting code from an AI chat
When ChatGPT or Claude writes a website, you get HTML, CSS and JavaScript, or a framework project. That is a static site, and it can be hosted for free.
- 1Save the filesPut index.html and any CSS, JS and images in one folder, keeping the names the code references.
- 2Test locallyOpen index.html in a browser; for framework projects, run the dev command the AI gave you.
- 3Deploy the folderDrag it into Netlify, or push it to GitHub and import it into Cloudflare or Vercel.
- 4Connect a domainAdd it in the host and copy the DNS records to your registrar.
- 5Update itAsk the AI for changes, replace the files and redeploy.
03Check portability before you commit
Builders that host for you are convenient, but you depend on them staying around and staying affordable. Before building something important, check whether you can export or download the code and whether it is a standard project you could deploy elsewhere. Do I own a website made with AI? covers ownership, and AI website builders that export code compares tools.
For an app builder with a database, hosting the frontend is the easy part; the database, authentication and storage also need a home, often a service like Supabase.
04Things AI-made sites often miss
- Unique page titles and descriptions for search.
- A working contact form; AI code often includes a form that sends nowhere.
- Compressed images; generated or stock images can be large.
- A favicon and social sharing image.
- Accessibility basics: alt text, contrast and labeled form fields.
05Next steps
Once it is live, add the site to Search Console; how to get my website on Google explains how. How to edit an AI-generated website covers changes after launch, and how to host a website for free compares free hosts in detail.
06Builder hosting vs your own host
Both are reasonable; they suit different stages.
Many people start on the builder's hosting to launch quickly, then move to their own host once the site matters to the business and they want control over cost and code. If you plan to do that, keep your domain at an independent registrar from the start, so the move is a DNS change rather than a domain transfer.
- Builder hosting: publish in one click, edits go live instantly, no repositories or build settings.
- Builder hosting: you depend on the builder's prices, limits and future.
- Your own host: free or cheap, portable and under your control.
- Your own host: you handle deploys, updates and fixing builds.
What people who tried it say
Hacker News builders who vibe-code sites tend to deploy them to static hosts or the AI tool's own hosting, and discussions highlight how quickly a generated project can be online.

Our take
for a quick site, the builder's own hosting is fine. For anything you will run for years, make sure you can take the code with you.
Where this falls short
AI tools change their hosting and export options frequently. Check each tool's current plan before relying on a feature, especially code export and custom domains.
Orlume hosts every site it builds: press Publish and it is live at name.orlume.site, with custom domains on the Pro plan. The free plan includes 10 message credits.
