01How Blueprint AI works

Squarespace introduced Blueprint AI at its Refresh event in 2024 as part of what it called Design Intelligence. Website Builder Expert, which tested it, describes a guided flow: you choose the kind of site and business, pick colors and fonts and describe your brand's personality, and Blueprint AI generates a site with AI-written copy and images to match. After that you have the full Squarespace editor.

02What it costs

There is no free plan. A 14-day trial without a card lets you try Blueprint AI. Basic is about $25 a month billed monthly or $19 billed yearly after Squarespace's July 2026 price rise, with a 2% fee on store sales on that plan. Higher plans remove the fee and add commerce features. A custom domain is free for the first year on annual plans.

04Limits to know

• The AI sets you up; most of the design work is still manual editing.
• No code export; the site stays on Squarespace.
• Squarespace also took over Google Domains in 2023, and some users reported DNS problems in the migration; keep DNS somewhere you trust.
• Monthly billing costs about a third more than yearly.

05Getting the most from Blueprint AI

Treat Blueprint AI as a well-designed starting point. Replace the AI copy with your own words, swap in real photography, and remove pages you will not maintain. Squarespace sites look best with strong images, so the time is best spent there.

Beyond Blueprint AI, Squarespace has added AI help for writing text and product descriptions inside the editor, and its Design Intelligence launch included site themes and a layout switcher that rearranges a section's content into different compositions. These speed up editing, but the decisions about what to say and which photos to use are still yours.
