01What kinds of websites Lovable can build
Anything that is technically a web page: landing pages, small business sites, portfolios, waitlist pages and multi-page marketing sites. Because it is an app builder, it can also add things website builders struggle with, such as user accounts, dashboards and custom forms that write to a database.
Where Lovable is less natural is content: a blog with dozens of posts, frequent copy edits by non-technical teammates, or a site that is mostly words and images. App builders handle those through prompts or code, while website builders offer visual editing and a CMS.
02The SEO caveat: client-side rendering
Lovable's apps are React single-page applications. Lovable's own deployment FAQ says they use client-side rendering by default, which means the page's content is assembled by JavaScript in the visitor's browser. Search engines can render JavaScript, but it is slower and less reliable, and many AI crawlers do not run it at all.
The fix is to enable prerendering, which Lovable recommends, so crawlers receive fully rendered HTML, and to add a sitemap and submit it to Google Search Console. How to get my website on Google walks through the steps for any site.
| Lovable | Dedicated website builder | |
|---|---|---|
| App features (logins, data) | Strong | Limited |
| Search-ready HTML | Needs prerendering enabled | Usually by default |
| Design quality out of the box | Depends on prompting | Varies; design-focused builders are stronger |
| Editing copy later | Prompts or code | Visual editor or CMS |
| Pricing model | Credits per message | Usually a flat plan |
03The design caveat: the AI look
Sites built with app builders tend to share the same patterns: a centered hero, a gradient, three feature cards, a pricing table. The cause is how generative models work: without direction, they produce the most typical layout. Why AI websites all look the same explains the mechanism, and why AI websites all look the same covers the fixes.
With Lovable, getting a distinctive result means spending credits on design direction: specific type, spacing, color and references. It can be done, but it is work the tool does not do for you.
04When to use Lovable for a website, and when not
- Use Lovable when the site needs app features: client logins, a booking flow that writes to a database, a calculator with saved results.
- Use Lovable when you are already building the app and want the marketing page in the same project.
- Use a website builder when the site is mostly content, design matters a lot, or non-technical people will edit it.
- Use a website builder when you want SEO handled by default rather than configured.
05Getting a Lovable site live properly
- 1Build and publishPublish to Lovable's address first and check every page on mobile.

What people who tried it say
Hacker News commenters who use Lovable mostly describe app prototypes and internal tools rather than marketing sites. Those who discuss its output for public sites tend to raise code quality and how generic the results can look.

Enthusiasm from people building quick apps, alongside developer skepticism about what the generated code looks like underneath and how it holds up.

Our take
Lovable can build your website, but it is the long way round unless you also need app features. A tool built for websites gets you a better-looking, search-ready site with fewer credits and less configuration.
Where this falls short
Lovable is changing its stack and rendering options; third-party guides from 2026 report server rendering for newer projects, which we could not confirm in Lovable's own docs. Check its current FAQ before deciding based on SEO.
Orlume is built for the website case: a design pass decides layout, typography and hierarchy before code is written, and every site is a Next.js project, which renders pages on the server for search engines.
