01The default layout
Ask most AI builders for a landing page and you get the same skeleton: a centered headline over a gradient, three feature cards with icons, a testimonial row and a pricing table. It is not wrong. It is just the average of every landing page on the internet, which is why visitors now recognise it as 'AI-made' in a second.
02Why it happens
When one model writes the code and the design at the same time, it reaches for the most common pattern that compiles. Nothing in that process asks what this particular product needs to say first, or which feature deserves the most room.
03What designed sites do differently
- One thing clearly leads each screen; the rest is sized to follow.
- Headings and body text are far apart in size, so hierarchy reads instantly.
- Spacing follows a rhythm, and breaks it on purpose.
- Features are ranked, not listed: the important one gets the biggest space.
- The palette is small, with one accent reserved for actions.
This is the problem Orlume was built to solve. Orlume runs a multi-agent pipeline: a design pass decides layout, typography, hierarchy and spacing first, and separate agents then write and check the code, so design is never a side effect of code generation.
